Overnight Iced Coffee

I've been meaning to use this method to make iced coffee this summer. Before you go to sleep, put coarsely ground coffee in the French press, fill it with cold water, and let it sit overnight. In the morning, you just press it as usual, pour it over ice, mix in a little milk, and stir. This tastes much better than hot coffee over ice, which tends to be pretty bitter and it won't melt your ice cubes.
We also did something similar with oatmeal. Put 1/2 cup quick oats and 1/2 cup steel-cut Irish oats in a container with 2 cups of cold water to soak overnight. All you need to do in the morning is heat it up and top it with brown sugar, dried berries, maple syrup, pecans, butter, and salt. With a little planning, you can have a Saturday breakfast any day of the week.

Overnight Iced Coffee
Special equipment: Four-cup French Press
(serves 2)

3/4 cup coarsely-ground coffee beans
3 cups cold water
Sugar and cream to garnish (optional)

Place coffee grounds and water into the French press and stir. Let the mixture sit on the counter as you sleep or at least five hours. Press the plunger and pour coffee into a pint glass, filling it halfway. Add sugar and cream if you would like and stir until sugar has dissolved. Fill the glass with ice. Enjoy.
